Why are the government funding home improvements?

The UK government have a target to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. They aim to be 50% there by 2030.

Currently, the UK is nowhere near this target and UK homes account for 30% of carbon emissions.

To tackle this, the government are funding energy saving home improvements to UK homes, in order to reduce our carbon footprint.

How can I help reduce my home's carbon emissions?

You can reduce your home's carbon emissions by reducing it's heat loss and improving the heating efficiency.

To reduce the heat loss of your home, you need to improve the insulation levels. Improving your insulation will help keep the heat inside of your home, meaning less energy will be needed to keep your home warm.

Improving the heating efficiency of your home can be a bit more difficult but will make a huge difference to your carbon footprint. By switching your heating system to an Air Source or Ground Source Heat Pump, your heating system will be running at a 300% - 500% efficiency - that's 3-5 times higher than a gas combi boiler!

Add Solar Panels to your roof or join an 100% renewable energy supplier, such as Octopus Energy, and you can power your whole home and heating system using renewable energy - helping your home reach net-zero emissions!
